Watchful and Thankful

There isn't much I can add to today's lesson except to reiterate her statement~

"When we work, we work , but when we pray God works"

Today's Tip~

Keep a Prayer Journal (or add it to your personal notebook)

I keep a prayer journal, which is a simple a notebook where that I write down prayer requests and then record the answers to those prayers.

On the left hand page, I date and write prayer requests, then on the opposite, right hand page, directly across, I date and write the answer. Once the Lord has answered a request, I take it one step further and high-light the prayer request!!

Can't tell you how cool it is to open up my notebook and see all the high-lighted, answered prayers.

I have made up a prayer journal page that will fit in your notebook, if you would like a copy (that you will be able to print out) let me know and I will be happy to e-mail it you.

On the Lookout for Things to be Thankful for~

Gotta tell you I loved my TAG time this morning. I was thanking God for all that I have and was reviewing some scripture that I want to share with my girls and God just took it from there. Before you know it almost an hour had passed. I was really disappointed that I had to get going with the rest of the day because God and I were having such a great time together! It was definately a two way conversation. Wish I could say it is always like that but I do take over now and then! I like that Donna Partow reminds us that prayer is a mindset, an attitude, an atmosphere we create. Prayer and conversation with God doesn't end with our TAG time. Looks like a great day!!!! Thank you Jesus

I truly loved today's lesson. I love that we have the right to ask and believe that we will receive answers when we pray because of Christ's righteousness. I do find myself talking to God throughout the day, and I do hear Him talking to me - bringing someone randomly (not really, though :-)) to my mind to say prayers for. I know that my prayer life can improve dramatically as I learn to spend more TAG and I am excited about that. There is one thing I don't quite understand about what she said and I would love to hear what you other ladies have to say about it.

In the guided prayer, there is a part that says, "Holy Spirit, show me someone I can trust to confess my sins to so that I might be healed"..... Isn't Christ the one we confess our sins to and aren't our sins forgiven through Him? Or do you think she means that we are healed because we have a person we can talk to and hold us accountable? Not that this is an either/or thing, but it just really hit me weird. This is probably because of my ex-Catholicism, in which we were taught that we had to confess our sins to a priest and do penance to be forgiven.

God bless you all on this beautiful day.

In response to Lise...
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to eachother and pray for eachother so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

This is from the NIV Life Application Study bible. James 5:16 is explained this way:
Christ made it possible for us to go directly to God for forgiveness. But confessing our sins to eachother still has an inportant place in the life of the church. If we have sinned against an individual, we must ask him or her to forgive us. If our sin has affected the church, we must confess it publicly. If we need loving support as we struggle with a sin, we should confess that sin to those who are able to provide that support. If after, confessing a private sin to God, we still don't feel his forgiveness, we may wish to confess that sin to a fellow believer and hear him or her assure us of God's pardon. In Christ's kingdom, every believer is a priest to other believers. (1 Peter2:9)

Hope that helps, Carolyn

Psalm 145:18 tells us that "The Lord is near to all who call on him,/to all who call on him in truth."

We have so many opportunities throughout each day to call on the Lord! I pray that I'm able to be more aware of God's presence despite distractions and worries.

I know I can move toward that goal by making God the focus, the center, of all that I do.

Lise, I also think Donna's point came across as a bit ambiguous. But I think the idea is that we could share our struggles with an accountability partner, who would pray with us and for us, and bringing those things out into the open could ultimately move us toward healing.

Ladies; Hello, I have not had a computer for THREE days! I will be catching up I travel back down to Cincinnati (200 miles) Thursday until Saturday. My sister-in-law (father's side of crazy family) passed away Sunday when James and I were there. Pray for safe travel for me and a clear voice, soft heart and the Lord with me as I meet with the children of my two 1/2 brother's. There is a long history, full of drama and some family I have not seen in 20 years or ever met. I will be back on-line Monday next. I will be reading and learning along the way. Virginia

I have a plaque near my kitchen table that reads "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you." Psalm 55:22. I love it because sometimes my little girl will ask me, "Mommy what does that mean", and I love telling her that God will answer our prayers... we just have to ask him.

May the Lord be with you all today!

I finally have a moment to check in. Working in the real world right now has been a wake up call for me. A Proverbs 31 woman is NOT the norm- she is valuable to be sure. If you could hear the conversations that I hear amongst the teens and young adults at work you would be compelled to pray more for our youth and their future. God has the power to change lives!
