Today's lesson is one that is near and dear to my heart!! I need a good solid 8 hours of sleep each night or I am not a happy camper. I know there are many factors that can rob us of our sleep. Our finances, messy and cluttered homes, too many things to do, just worries in general and at this stage of my life, the dreaded hormones. Hopefully our Mugs and Muffins, Proverbs 31 series is helping you with some of life's stresses and thus giving you a better night's sleep. Donna has also given some great tips.
The bottom line is we need peace in able to get a good night sleep! Having our TAG each day is the first step to achieving that peace, so keep up the good work, girls!
Today's Tip ~
Write it!
Keep a small note pad on your night stand and every night before you go to bed, write out your memory verse. Not only is this a great way to help you memorize your verse, it's a great way to end your day.
What could be more peaceful than falling asleep with God's Word freshly pressed on your mind,
Sweet Dreams,
Nola

Getting a good night's sleep is something that is really hard to do when it feels like there just aren't enough hours in the day. Especially when working a full time 8-5 job, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, working out, trying to find time to spend with my husband and my friends and my family, etc.
I really would like to take the notebook idea to heart. I lie awake a lot thinking about all the things I need to do the next day. I think I would sleep a lot easier if I could just write them all downa and get them on to paper and out of my head!
p.s. all of my friends laugh at me for going to bed at 10:00pm on week nights, but now I can tell them that I am just being obedient to the Lord!
Nola, our hormones definitely cause sleep problems! I thought it was interesting that Donna didn't mention health issues, such as chronic pain or other physical conditions that can rob us of restful sleep.
Stress is definitely sleep stealer. Lately, my husband (who is a night owl) and I (a morning person) have started praying together in the evening. We ask for forgiveness, offer praise and thanks for the day's challenges, and bring our concerns before the Lord.
Because of our daily schedule and commitments, we have found this prayer time to be very helpful.

Well, ironically enough, I had a trouble time sleeping last night (hormones and the heat, I try my darnest not to run the A/C at night), so i was snickering to myself this morning!!!
Love the prayer time together Connie, not only is good for your sleep, but good for your marriage!
Meant to say "terrible" time, not trouble!! oops!!!
I love sleep!! Going to bed is my favorite part of the day. Where I have trouble is how much sleep i get. During the week I usually get about 6 hours of sleep, which leaves me at the end of the day exhausted( I work with kids so I am running around alot). Then come the weekend and I sleep about 10 hours. When i finally do wake up I am tired from too much sleep. So after reading I realized I need a good 7 to 8 hours of sleep to have enough energy in my day to do all that i do.
The notebook thing really does work! I have done it since high school and it helps to get all the stress out. I use it all the time not just at bed time because stress and concerns if big enough will eat up your thoughts all day... not fun.
I am REALLY struggling with this right now. My husband is working late and he wants to connect with me after getting home from work. Sometimes he gets home at 10, sometimes 11:30, sometimes 1:30! I really need 8-hour of sleep, so I'm hurting. Not only am I missing out on a.m. TAG, I'm drained and grouchy! I'm glad this schedule doesn't last forever! And I'm leaning on the Lord for energy and patience. Most days I'm gratefully amazed at how He sustains me.
Boy, that can be hard Heather (I am soooo not a night person), but it's blessing your husband, so my hat is off to you.
I know our boys are young so to grab a nap during the day is probably unrealistic, but maybe for now you should move you TAG to the evening, once you have put your boys to bed and before your hubby gets home.
Just a suggestion!
Sleep has been a real problem for me, and also for my husband. He shared with me that last night he had some pretty bothersome dreams. We definitely need to pray tonight for peaceful slumber.
The enemy uses our very own minds against us, in those twilight hours. We tend to be the most vulnerable when our prayer defenses are not up. A good strategy would be to memorize a prayer to depend upon as I am waking up. We need our armor, even as we sleep!
Blessed assurance and sleep to all the dear women on this blog!

Ladies,
This doesn't have anything to do with sleep, but this IS a bible study and I feel that I can come to you and ask you to lift my husband, Gordon, up in your prayers. Tomorrow morning (7:30am) he takes his final medical and psych exam for the Los Angeles Police Department. He is so nervous. This has been a long process over the last six months and we are finally to the end, as long as everything goes well tomorrow. It seems like something so small but it is such a big deal to him. Just pray that God would calm his nerves so he can do his best. Thank you ladies! :) Get some sleep!
Sarah and everyone else, you can come to us for prayer anytime!!!
Please tell Gordon that we are praying for him.
It's 7:25 am and Sarah, I just read your prayer request, and I am praying for him right now! The Lord is in control!
Vera
