Day 18

Smaller portions!! Now there something that has been naggin at me for some time now! If I could get this concept down, how much better life could be. It seems so simple and yet for some reason, it can be a challenge. I am pleased to say (drum roll please)I left behind a ¼ of my meal last night.

Donna is so right on here, just cutting our portion size down would make such a difference!! So my baby step for today is to start cutting. I found last night that by cutting off the portion and removing it from my plate before I started eating was a piece of cake (OK, maybe I shouldn’t be comparing anything to cake this week), but you get the idea.

Today’s Tip~

Watch a Movie!

Have you heard of the movie “Super Size Me”. Great movie and will definitely help you change your eating habit.. Rent it today and watch it with your family

Warning: you may never got to McDonald’s again.

Thinking Smaller~

Smaller portions - goodness this is everything that I've been thinking about for a while. When I got on the scale a while back, I remember thinking "that can't be right" but who am I kidding. So today's just affirmation is just a reminder that I need to stop justify what I put on my plate and think about what my body "really" needs. I have noticed that eating smaller portions does leave me full. One thing I learned when my mother was diagnosed diabetes is that eating five smaller portions is better for your digestion. Five portions is a bit much for me. But eating the right amount of food three times a day should help with the temptation to eat a large portion at the end of the day. Which is something that I am struggling with but working on to improve my diet and the health of my body.

I thought it was hilarious that today's study was on portion control and gluttony when my work held a Happy Birthday Potluck for me! haha. It was supposed to be a "healthy" potluck but some people snuck in Chinese food!!! Luckily everything was mostly vegetarian! But my biggest trouble with portion control is potlucks and family parties. Please pray for me as we continue birthday celebrations this weekend!

I'm doing the whole veggies and water deal, and it's easy @ work since it's an Adventist hospital and Adventists are all vegetarians, but it's super hard at home when Aaron needs his meat!

Aaron and I found an interesting read in the Bible...of all places...about food and what Paul has to say about veggies and such. Romans 14. Read it...it's interesting! =)
