Making a List, Checking it Twice

Today is Saturday and each Saturday during our study, Donna is gonna have us do a 'Weekly Checkup'. My favorite thing about making a list is being able to check things off the list. So get out your books and start checking!!

Today's Tip ~

Getting to Know You

If you haven't already, I really recommend getting an Accountability Partner(s). If you don't know anyone, let me know and we can get you hooked up. You can have a few gals in one group if you like (no more than 4).

I don't have any specific guidelines, just touch base with each other via e-mail, outside the Blog a couple of times each week. If you need prayer, share it with your partner(s) and keep each other in prayer and accountable.

Then get to know each other.

I did this kind of group in the past and in an effort to get to know each other better we just started with some personal info about ourselves. For example here is all about me~
I'm a 50 year old housewife and leader of the Women's Ministry @ HOTC (kinda like a full time job, but love it!)
Married 30 years to a wonderful guy
2 grown sons, Devon 28 and Brandon 25 and have 1 fabulous daughter-in-law, Jamie (married to Devon)
I have walked with the Lord for as long as I can remember
We live in Canyon Country
I have one cat
Love the color red
My favorite movie is "The Princess Bride"
and....
I love Chocolate!!!!

So there you go, now find a partner!

What a great opportunity to get to know one another!

I'm Vera, married 28 years, I have a son 24 (guitarist) and a daughter 16 (pianist). My daughter's best friend, also 16, has lived with us 4 days/week for the past 3 years.

We have 2 dogs, 1 Greek tortoise, and several goldfish. I'd really like a cockatiel or small parrot.

My favorite colors are turquoise, green and purple. My favorite movie is, "God Grew Tired of Us". It's a documentary, I recommend it.

My husband and I both became Christians in our mid-30s. Neither of us had a strong family faith background.

I work for an academic recovery charter high school. I love my work. I've been a teacher for 15 years.

I am a 6 year breast cancer survivor, so grateful to be healthy, happy, here for my family, and productive in my life's work.

Here is a little something about me:

I’m a 36 year old housewife with my own home business sewing shopping cart covers for babies (called Sarah’s Slippers).

I have been married to a very loving man for two years now.

We have 4 children: Amber is 15 and is about to begin the Early College High School at COC. Jacob is 10 and getting ready to start the 6th grade. Jessica is 8 going into the 3rd grade. Sarah is 21 months and full of energy!!

Born into a Christian family, I was saved when I was very young. At the age of 18 I decided to go my own way… that is when I turned my back on the Lord. Looking back at my life, I know He never left me. It wasn’t until my father passed away in 2005 that I turned to the Lord again and asked him to help me live the life He wants me to live.

We live in Canyon Country with one cat and a handful of fish.

My favorite color is PINK!

My best friend is Morman and my other friends are nonbelievers… so I have a strong desire to meet other Christians... I know you're out there somewhere!

Good Morning ladies,
After my QT yesterday I went to read everyones thoughts and it is amazing how so many of us struggle with getting sucked in to the negatives of life. A thought immediatly came to me, That if I want to remain thankful than I need to write down my blessings as they happen. At the end of the day I'm so tired I'm not thinking of the blessings or being thankful, i've forgotten the small joys of the day. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast, but we can always remember the woman that was rude in the grocery store. They say for everyone negative you need 10 positives to counteract. I'm going to start writing down the positives and I invite you to join me. My first positive I am thankful that God loves me and has put women in my life that love me.
Have a great day :)
T.

That's great, Theresa! Here's a point of gratitude for me:

That my daughter and her best friends are all going to camp today, that we have that opportunity for them at HOTC, and how wonderfully excited they are to attend! It's wonderful to see how the Lord has knit these teenage hearts together, and how they love to come together in the presence of the Lord. I am so very thankful for that, it's the childhood I would have hoped for.

How much more thankful can we be than when something wonderful happens for our kids? It's one of the greatest blessings.

Theresa.....that is great. I have dealth with that also...being in a good mood, remembering the good things that happened just long enough until the bad things start happening....then it seems like that is what sticks with me all day.....UGH

So great to read everyone's details! I'm 38. I have two sons: Nicholas - 7 and Gabriel - 5. I've been married for 12 years to my soulmate, Scott. I am passionate about photography and writing, so I've put both together into my greeting card company, Snickleprints.

I was reborn in 2004, as I zoomed under the 405 freeway overpass! I was listening to tape a friend gave me. It was a sermon on the wedding banquet and how all have been invited but very few put on their garments and come. I realized at that moment I had been holding God's invitation for a long time and NOW it was time to get dressed for the ball. Christ entered my heart and revolutionized my life! I was baptized later that year.

I'm a member of Faith Community Church and I'm delighted to be sharing this journey with all of you!

I really enjoy reading all of these and getting to know all of the women who are participating in this study. My name is Sarah and I am a recent college graduate. I just got married a little over a month ago to my very best friend, Gordon. I absolutely love it. I feel that now is probably a good time for me to figure out how to be a good wife and mother. I currently work in marketing and I am enjoying making a home out of our little apartment! :)

I am 24 years old (going to be 25 in October). Engaged to a wonderful man and we plan on a 2010 wedding (its worth the wait). Graduated from CSUN with a BA in Journalism, currently attending CSULA for a Masters of Science in Public Administration. I work as an Administrative Coordinator for the Journalism Department at CSUN and as a freelance journalist/organizational consulant.

As far as pets, I have 7 cats (well I share them)who are the sweetest and loves of my life. I was introduced to the Lord, through my mother when I was very young. I remember her coming home one day and telling me all about being a christian. I thought, if God could love people and be so amazing, then I wanted to follow him.

Happy Monday Girls!

Here's a little about me:

I turned 45 May 7th. I've never been married although I am accepting applications and I'm an EOE! All I ask is that they still be breathing! LOL! No, wait, forget the LOL, I'm serious! I have no children but I do have 4 cats which by the way are required as part of my "cat ladyology" degree that I'm working towards. I was babtized about a year after coming to Heart which was about 11 years ago. I'm happily involved with the Right This Way program(although that was not always the case as it was not an area I had planned on being a part of. I had my own ideas. But hey, thats a whole other Oprah! I am so glad that Gods ways always prevail! They are always so much better than we could ever imagine!) and look forward to what the Lord will do through it. I love going to the movies, ice cream, day trips, ice cream, gardening, ice cream, plays/concerts, and...oh, did I mention ice cream??? Although I'm struggling with getting going with this study, I know I'll get there eventually! Thanks to the ladies who have encouraged me! It means more than you know!

Hugs!

Monica
