Have you had your TAG today?

Today's lesson was a lesson after my own heart! It's been my ministry for several years now to help women establish their QT (Quiet Time). Don't just quickly read over today "Passage to Read", take it to heart. One of the things (out of many) that I love about Jesus is that His life was a living example to us, showing how we should live. If Jesus got early to spend time with the Father, how much more do we need to do it???? I think I can actually hear you night owls groaning. Don't be discouraged, I truly believe that if we give Him the 'First Fruits' of our day, He in returns gives us the strength we need to make it through our day.

Work on your assignment today, girls. Make that special place where you can meet with Him everyday! If you don't have a dining room to transform, like Donna did, make it an end of your couch, (my dear Mother has hers in the bathroom) just be sure it will be a quiet place. Making it quiet may require that you get up early, while your family or room mates are still sleeping. Trust me it will be time well spent!

Today's Tip~

Set you alarm!!
I admit I am an early bird, but I still didn't enjoy getting up before the sun, until I started, in earnest giving Him the first fruit of the my day. When I started being serious about my QT, the first thing I did was ask Him what time He wanted to meet with Him. He clearly told me 6:00am. At the time I was working full time and still had 2 teenage boys at home, in order to have time to meet with Him I needed to get up earlier then I was (6:30). So I set my alarm and started getting up at 6.

Shortly after that I felt the Lord wanted me to set the alarm for 5:00am. I did!!!! I can't even begin to tell you the rewards I reaped from being obedient to this discipline. I soon found it a joy to get out of bed before the rest of world, while the morning was still quiet and meet with Him.

You will find this will be the BEST investment of your time!! So get to bed a bit earlier and set your alarm. You won't regret it!!!

One last thing!
Don't forget to make the label for your first tab divider (TAG) for your planner today

My prayer is that by the end of our 90 days together you will have established your QT of TAB, as Donna calls it. It is one of the best habit you can develop, so let's get started.

As a person who likes to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night, getting up early is SUCH a chore, but I have decided to be committed to it for the next 90 days knowing that God will reward my life. I'm on day two and I have found that I'm not nearly as tired as I thought and I have a surprising amount of energy during my day. I also feel more at peace throughout the day knowing that I started it with some alone time with God. But I don't know, Nola, I don't think I could get up at 5AM!

I am little different, James gets home at 7:30 AM now, so I have the Blessing of truly quiet time, no excuses, as I am an early riser. Plus the days he goes right to sleep, 2 out of 5 days a week, I also have the luxury of doing house things while he sleeps. I have not learned how to be a third shift wife, but we are making this work for us. I am excited about being so much more for The Lord that I am or could be for James and me! Virginia

I am not a morning person, but a few years ago the Lord spoke to my heart about giving Him the first fruits of my day. I was driving to a mom's prayer meeting and I saw the sun rise over the hills. I realized He will bless me when I give Him my firsts. I pray constantly that He will help me to be a "joyful early riser." I have 4 children at home with me all the time, so I need to set the alarm for 5:30. Some mornings our Creator blesses me with the most beautiful painted sunrises that I know are just for me! I delight in those moments, but I still need my 2 cups of coffee before I begin my quiet time!! One day I will be the joyful early riser I desire to be!

Being the mother of 4 (or even the mother of 1) doesn't leave much time for myself. In the past I've noticed that getting up before the children allows me some time to jump start my brain... what better way to do that with a boost from God!

My mother would get up extra early, have her coffee and time with God every morning (she even indented a spot on the couch where her elbow rested while reading the Bible). As a teenager I thought that she was crazy to get up so early... DIDN'T SHE WANT TO SLEEP?

Now I've come to realize what a truly enjoyable time this is... a peaceful time "To be filled with the Spirit" Eph. 5:18.

What a great way to start the day!

I am not an early riser by choice. I have to be at work at 6am so i do my best to sleep as late as I possible can before getting up and getting ready. After reading today and praying about it I can really feel God telling me that I need get up at 5 when my husband leaves for work and give him my mornings instead of the snooze button. It will be a challenge, but I know God will see me through:0)

With working full-time, going to grad school and doing everything I often don't get a lot of peaceful time in the morning with trying to catch up from the day before. But I've been feeling in my heart that my evening time is too rushed. So while I love sleeping in, a change in habit might just be what God is telling me to try. Though 5am was possible in high school...Getting up at 5:30 might be better to start my day.

I gotta tell ya, I love this blog stuff!!! It's so much fun to read your comments! and I love the picture Sarah.

I know we are only day two, but you gals are on the right track with making commitments to get up early in order to give the Lord your "first Fruits".

Keep up the food work!!!

Hi all!
I am getting up much earlier than usual, for my daughter's summer school class that starts across town at 7. Then I have about 3/4 of an hour before I start work at 8. I've run out of to-do's and errands. So I'll stop off by the park and use this time as my QT.

Summer school ends this week, so I'll just keep getting up early. I have learned that I like being up when the birds start to sing. The world is really beautiful at dawn.

Enjoy (so glad this blog is working, I was worried!).

AS you can all see it is 10:16 PM and I have finished reading Day 2. So I am SO a snooze hitter EVERY day! AS I type I am setting the alarm for 5:30 AM. Why 5:30? So I can hit the snooze at least once before I start my QT. I will have to learn to wean myself off the snooze....:):):)BTW, I did not feel a certain time come to mind so I wrote in my book when I wake. Does that still count?

Good morning everyone. It was just great to read all your comments, ideas and commitments to getting up early and giving the time to God. Can't you just feel God I have added a photo of James and I to My Profile, and we will see if it works.
One little question since I do not text message or have kids what is BTW?? I know...lame, ha-ha.

Getting up early is not a problem for me, it is stopping and using that time for ME. I find myself showered and at the computer starting my day in the midst of waking up kids for school or in this case, summer school. My challenge will be to completely commit to keep this valuable time between me and God! Thank you for the direction...
Hugs and Blessings!

good morning all.......well, I am already a morning person, I get up at 5:00 in the morning..my son has this last week of summer school, so when I don't have to get up that early for him, since I am used to the time, it will be easier for me to continue to get up that early........so as for right now (for the rest of the week) my TAG is either on the train or at the train station.......everyone have a wonderful day

Verginia...BTW is...by the way :o)

I have always been a morning person, but, I tend to get up and get busy. I have really enjoyed and looked forward to the last three mornings of TAG. I have been reading all of Proverbs 31 each morning...it encourages me to all God wants me to be.

Now, I'll get busy :o) !!!

Ok Ladies...
I'm gonna have to be completely honest here. I'm having the preverbial (sp?) argument with God over this issue of getting up earlier than I already do. Yesterday's lesson made me feel a bit trapped-like I'm being forced to do what I'm commanded...Imagine how I felt when I read the prayer where we add our time, etc. "give you the FIRST _____ of my day." I was expecting the paragraph to read something like, "giving you 45 minutes of my TIME." I mean, I talk to him throughout the day anyway...Obviously I have an issue with being told what to do, LOL. I think this would be a good time for me to ask for prayer. Am I the only one that's had this argument before?

Trust me Debbie, you are not alone!! Why do you think it took me 45 years to have a solid QT or TAG.

Praying throughout the day is wonderful, but as a rule those are not times when we are getting good quality time with the Lord. Approach your TAG as a time when you receive from Him.

When you start thinking of it as time with the Creator of Universe and a chance to re-fuel, sometimes that helps!! It is in the still small hours of the beginning of our day (before our minds get cluttered) that we can receive from Him. Not that we don't receive from Him throughout our day, but there is something sweet about meeting Him first thing in the morning!! Even if it is 5 minutes!

SIDE NOTE:
I have to admit that I totally agree with Donna about meeting with the Lord first thing in the morning, but in all the years that I have been encouraging women to have their QT(TAG,)I have come across quite a few who are just not morning people! A lot of them get discouraged about not being able to get up earlier in their day and hence give up before they start. If it works better for you to have your QT at another time during the day, fly at it!!!

Years ago, when I was in BSF, I got up at 4:30 every morning to have my quiet time. Then I started getting up at 5am to exercise in the morning and I would "usually" have my quiet time when I got home. God has been convicting me for a long time that I needed to have my quiet time BEFORE I exercise. So today's lesson really hit home. Well, I made a commitment to get up at 4:30 everyday so that I can meet with God before I do anything else. It was such a great feeling waking up this morning to meet with God and knowing that some of my sisters were talking to Him at the same time! Have a blessed day!

I so look forward to getting up early for my QT. If I don't, I feel that everything doesn't run as smoothly in my day. I feel harried and I believe more apt to put my will before God's. Didn't Moses have a "tent of meeting everyday"? My "tent" is at the end of my couch- which is rapidly showing the effects!
