Day 17

The hits just keep coming, as if eating only veges and drinking water for 10 days was not enough, now I need to control my beloved sugar!! Ouch!!! Of course I saw this coming so I’m not surprised!! And I do have to say it's all good!!! Heavens know it would not hurt me to cut down on my sugar intake.

So I will do my best and try to cut down (not necessarily give up) sugar ( I need to be realistic here). I am proud to report that I made it through day 1 without a soda!!! Let’s hear it for me!!! This is progress.

Today’s Tip ~

Replace it!

I got this tip from Pastor Jim, during one of his sermons on Recovery, he said “to get rid of a bad habit , replace it with a good habit”. This has stuck with me and been helpful when I try to rethink things.

Here’s to sugarless less sugar in my day~

God cracks me up, He has been preparing me for this for about 2 weeks. Everytime Michael has brought "treats" into the house (snowballs etc.) I have been irritated. Nice gestures don't usually bug me, but lately this has really been an issue for me.
God has really spoken to my heart to give up unnecessary carbs, not fruits and veggies, just the whites. Now I just have to work on the water. Does Starbucks serve water? LOL
Please don't forget to pray for Mary, her brother Jimmy, and the rest of her family. It's been a very long year for them. She leaves this morning.

Hi Ladies; I am back to Wooster almost a week. During my time in Cincinnati I had lots of family to meet for the first time, other family to get to know. A good visit with my sister-in-law with the Lord.
I have had computer problems big time since before I left. All to say I also have been backsliding on my reading and not being able to blog or get on email. For now it is fixed.
I have decided to do the readng on my own here in sunny Wooster. James and I have a Bible group we started and so much going on, guilt was setting in...shame on me. This will work for me at this time. Thank you for all your support and prayers along the way. I will be on email (I hope)if you have prayer requests. Virignia

Hi All, I am just catching up with you all and when I read only veges this morning, I thought better get on the blog to see who is taking on this challenge so I can pray for you!!! I have done fasts before and when I give up, I mean choose not to eay something that the Lord has put on my heart, I am only succesful when I do it for Him. When I choose to please Him, I have the strength and will power. I'll be giving up bread, including cakes and cookies. Who is bringing the Veggie platter this weekend? Stephanie

Welcome back V!!

Funny you should ask about the veges for this weekend, Stephanie, that is exactly what we are serving for Friday night!!! (For those of you who don't know HOTC is hosting the Beth Moore Simulcast.)

And...Yes Theresa, Starbucks serves water, they put coffee in it, LOL!!!

OK, you got me there!! Although I gotta tell ya, the sugar-free jello pudding cups are not bad if you just need something sweet without the sugar!!!

hey ya all,

well i can gladly say i had a almost successful day. i did have a cup of oatmeal for breakfast and a serving of vegies for lunch and a normal dinner. praise God. however i had a piece of cake after youth group, because my 13 year old baked it for the family, and i did not want to hurt his feelings, but praise God, i stopped at one piece.

vera, stawberries are sweet and very healthy for you. just a suggestion.

nola, right on girl, i put coffee in my water every morning, however i am going to give up creamers and go to straight java!!!!!

by for now.

T- the water, cream, & Sugar at Starbucks are free. They will even give you ice. They only charge for the coffee.
Missy- A few years ago the Readers Digest Change One Diet came out. Changing every meal all at once is a sure set up for frustration and failure. So they have you change one meal for a week, when you master that you change the next and so on. I don't think Daniel changed his entire eatting pattern overnight, he had been practicing it

LOL - Okay I just posted for Day 16 about eating better and mentioned about my struggle with the sugar intake. I whole heartly agree with Nola that I have to be realistic. So I put limits on what I can have. Five pieces of Candy a day is my limit - which is a huge change for me. But I'm finding after having the limit for four days so far, its working. And knowing that I could have only five pieces makes it last longer and I didn't have any yesterday. It makes it more worth while to have the limit so I don't go eating it every day.

Nola - I love the sugar free pudding cups which to me take far better then anything.

Vera - A good replacement for sugar is fruit since it has natural sugar. Plouts are really good and are not only good for you, but have a sweet taste. Hope that helps.
