Week Four

Whew, feeling a bit more like I’m on solid ground here!!! Obviously from last week’s ramblings, I am not an expert (or fan) of healthy food and nutrition, but exercise, now this is something I can do. Still not a expert in this field either, but I do try to walk most mornings.

I started being seriously challenged about walking when I did my first "Donna" study a couple of years ago. I haven't been as consistent as I would have liked, but for now I'm doing pretty well!! Sure feels good! And...at this point in my life where my hormones are winning the weight lose game, I like to think that even though I may not be losing the extra pounds, I am keeping any extra one that want to jump on for the ride at bay, by walking!

Today's Tip ~

Get a buddy!!

I walk about 4 to 5 mornings a week down to the a local coffee shop (it's 2 miles from my house) and meet up with friends who also walk from their house 2 miles from the opposite direction. By doing this I get the best of both world; I get a good workout without being slowed down by chit chat and yet I get a nice visit in the middle of my workout before I head home and complete my 4 mile total route! There are mornings when I would rather skip the walk, but knowing that they are committed to meeting me there, make me get and go!

Liking this week a whole lot better then late~

hey girls!

well i am with you nola, walking i can handle and actually enjoy. however since i am already at work by 5:30 am and am still challenged to get up early to meet with my Heavely PaPa, i don't think i will be walking at 3:30 a.m. so i think i will have to do afternoon walks and or after dinner walks, so if anybody is interested in these time zones (I usually get home about 3-3:30 once school starts and i try to be done eating dinner by 6:00 p.m.) let me know your ideas. anyway's i am totally excited cuz i know i can enjoyably do this one even on my own.

have a great day everyone!!!!!!

My doctor recommended a pedometer and it definitely is motivating, whenever I was getting close to 10,000 steps in a day, I'd want to keep going just that little bit extra to make it to the magic number. Mine's covered in dust on the counter...guess I should go use it again!

I got the same brand as my doctor recommended, an Omron. I found it on sale at Amazon.com. It resets itself after midnight and does all sorts of other cool things that I don't even know how to use! But it doesn't do the actual exercise, alas....guess that's going to be up to me.

I can't wait until the weather cools off a little and it will be more enticing to walk. For now, the mall would be an option.

i just began to walk with my neighbor and it is definately more motivating for me if someone is counting on me. i like the idea of a pedometer because i also walk a lot on the job. i like coffee but maybe i can sip hot lemon water the rest of the day at work when i usually grab coffee-baby steps! here's an interesting definition for purity: the absence of words spoken deemed inappropriate to good style. makes me think of eph. 4:29 which for me at work is something i need prayer for...

I'm with you missy. I don't think getting up and going for walks BEFORE work is going to happen, but I definitely love my evening walks. My husband and I walk 2 miles about 4 nights a week. We walk in the evenings after dinner. It is a really good time to get out of the house and away from the tv and computer and other distractions and just enjoy talking to each other and praying.

hey sarah,

thanks for the idea. maybe i try and get my hubby to do an evening walk. i don't know if we'll walk as long as you youngin's, but thanks for the idea. I guess sometimes after 21 years, i forget my getting old, but still my "knight in shining armor" hubby.

p.s. it is still a little strange seeing you type the work "husband"
by the way i hope "all" is fun and exciting if you know what i mean!!!!!! couldn't resist.

love ya girl!

I have a hard enough time getting up in the morning so walks before work are out, but I do like to go in the evening to Canyon Country Park. Kyle took me there I didn't think it was going to be such a workout, but walking up the hill to the top of the park really does give you a workout and a nice view to enjoy.
