OK, so between Monday’s lesson, on only wearing your core color (half my clothes are black, not a good core color for us redheads) and today’s lesson on modesty (the other half of my wardrobe is skirts that hit above my knees, when you are my height wearing shirts below your knees only serves to make you look frumpy), I have nothing left to wear! I do love Donna’s enthusiasm, but here again, let me reiterate, that we may not be able to do everything she suggest!!
A couple of years ago I was watching a talk show where the guest made suggestions on what to wear and what not to wear. One of their suggestion was that grown women should not wear Mary Jane shoes. Well, for those of you who know me well, you know half my shoe wardrobe is Mary Janes, what can I say I like them. Upon watching the show I got toally caught up in the emotion of it and decided I needed t throw away my shoes and go get a more sophisticated style. Then I came to my senses!!! I happen to like Mary Janes, they are comfortable and cute and quite frankly I didn’t care if I should be wearing them or not so I kept them and now 2 years later, they are all the rage, go figure.
Today’s Tip~
Don’t get caught up!
It’s easy when you are reading to want to follow every suggestion to a tee, but don’t get caught up by your emotions. I think Donna has some great ideas, but for me to throw out half my clothes and give away the other half would make me a poor steward (a naked one at that). So for now I will hang on to what I have and in the future I will keep her rules in mind when I go to buy something new.

hey nola,
i am a little confused, did i miss a day? day 45 in my book was clean out the make-up and jewely and belts and accessories, which i don't have a lot to begin with so this was a no brainer for me. but anyway modesty is day 46 which is tomorrow. i am with you on you comments today anyway. i like some of the things donna has to say, but i also believe we live in a very "me" world as it is and i really think a lot of these issues come from our relationship with the Lord and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. thank you for reminding us not to get "caught up". still lovin that lemon water.
blessings to all you beauties!!!!!
p.s. remember God don't make junk, only precious things which we are one to Him!!!!

Nola, I definitely agree with you that it would be tough to implement all of Donna's suggestions. I'm still trying to keep up with memorizing Proverbs 31! LOL!
I try to clean out my makeup, etc., at least once a year. There are some products that can last quite a while though, and I don't want to be wasteful. Now if I could just get my precious daughters to do the same!
We have a very small closet, so I try to go through our clothes periodically. I know that I need to give away some things that were given as gifts that I will never wear.

Nola, thank you for your tip to not get caught up. I was beginning to think that I will not have anything left in my closet or drawers if I give away everything Donna wants me to.
But I did clean out my bathroom cupboards and threw away quite a bit. I never realized how many beauty products and makeup cases I'd collected over the years! When I could afford Clinque I was one of those people who spent $35 on something that I really didn't need just so I could get those "free" beauty products.
Now I can actually find what I am looking for right away. Connie, I agree, if I can now get Elizabeth to do that we'll be in great shape!
I was convicted by today's lesson to dress in modesty. I don't have cleavage so I don't have to worry about that showing. But I spent the better part of yesterday at work trying to pull my skirt down every time I sat down ~ so it's definitely one of those that I should give away.
Well I've got to go and see what else I can purge! Have a great day ladies! Love you all!
Mary
Call it more being lazy, but I don't like to wear a lot of make-up so I don't have a lot. Which is great, as I have less to clean out. Clothes, I've come to the conclusion that if it's if I have to pull it down, then it's not worth it to wear it. I cleaned out my closet not to long ago for belts that I don't wear and donated jewerly that's not worn as I just don't want to be cluttered with it all.
I like this week a whole lot better than last week.
mary and heather p. thank you for you little tid bit of if i have to pull it down it's not worth wearing. i am going to give this advise to the young ladies in our youth group each and every time i get the opportunity.
thank you for sharing, i love how God uses other people to speak to our hearts!!!! keep on sharing ladies!!!
lots of love,

I totally read the wrong day today, too...so I went back to read today's lesson, so I have nothing to read tomorrow! haha. I have to admit that I haven't been as on top of my notebook as I'd like, but I'll get all caught up soon (it's hard to write on a train that's super crowded!).
YAY for getting rid of clutter! If there's something I'm not...it's a clutter bug. But, it was AMAZING what I found when Aaron and I moved into our house! I felt like I was throwing away every other item and I was super frustrated! haha. I didn't think I accumulated all that stuff! I thought, "Why did we spend all that time packing this only to wind up in the trash!" We didn't throw everything in the trash; some we gave to my parents to give to the Philippines, but I keep forgetting that those things that my family in the Philippines won't use, another family in the states can use! I just hope that my trash doesn't end up as someone else's clutter.
PS. For those of you who are looking to lose weight or figure out your ideal body weight, Donna gave us the BMI a few days ago. That's a good tool, but it's not always so accurate (don't be too happy, it's also not too far off...haha). I recommend figuring out your total body fat percentage (because we all know that muscle weighs more than fat...that's why sometimes when you workout, you don't lose an inch, but you're a lot leaner!). Google it.
One of the problems with clothes shopping on a tight budget is that the fabrics are stretchy and/or thin. And as Donna points out, these types of pieces don't look right on older women.
If you are on a limited budget, you may want to check out the Good Will center on Bouquet Cyn. I've found beautiful winter coats and dress jackets there. Everything was really organized and easy to look through.
