Now that makes perfect sense! The 80/20 rule!! I have never heard of it before so consequently have never used it, but I think it could be fun!! As I mentioned yesterday I love to make lists and my all time favorite is my “things to do” list, however on most days, I get to the end of the day and find that I have not accomplished the entire list. In fact it is rare when I do complete the entire list, which usually make me feel guilty.
I think approaching my daily list using the 80/20 rule will help me prioritized and will definitely elevate the guilt!
Today’s Tip ~
Challenge Yourself!
Donna gave us some good example of how to apply the 80/20 rule, now think of some on your own and share them with the group!! I think I’m gonna go look at my closest using the 80/20 rule!! Just sitting here at my computer, I can tell you that I use on 20% of my clothes 80% of the time. With that in mind I think I could go clean it out in a more efficient manner then I have in the past.
Have fun with this! The benefits could be endless.

PS Congratulations to Missy C who will be closing escrow on their first house today or tomorrow!!

Ok, so I didn't really get it. I mean, I understand the concept, but on my list of things to do today, I couldn't determine which was most important. Should I clean the house and finish thank you notes or should I cook dinner for my husband and pay the bills? Or could I do all 4? I don't know. I am not sure which one will yeild the most return for me. Maybe I just didn't understand the lesson... any advice?
Wow, and work an 8 hour job!! You are a busy girl!!
OK this is how I took it!!
Since we are to fill out the 6 "categories" each day, that is where I am putting the important stuff that needs to get done. Then I make my list of 10 things "to do/Tackle". It is those itmes that I use the 80/20 rule for. So for you it migth read like this:
Spiritual - TAG
Physical - Take a Way
Relational - Make and Eat dinner with Gordon
Personal - Do Thank You notes
Ministry - Post Comment on Blog
Financial - Pay the bills
Now your remaining stuff goes on your "To do/Tackle" list. Here is where I would choose the 2 things that we bring me the best return. If I get more done on my list, awesome!!!
Does that help?
good morning everyone,
well this "adhd" girl's head is spinning. making a list is the first hard part and then actually doing a list is even more difficult and very "boring" in my mind. i like to fly by the seat of my pants and kinda look around and see where and what God wants to ivolve me with the day. but i will honestly give this a try. someone, please ask me in a couple days how i am doing to keep me accountable.
sarah, you know how i love to give my two cents, so here my advise. Time with God is always number one, it defines you life and who you are and second, if you and Gordon are going to spend the rest of you lives together i really think he needs to be your second priority. hope this helps. also just want to share a little nugget someone once told me when i comes to house work, cuz i is a full time workin' mama. IF YOU WANT TO SEE ME, DROP BY ANYTIME. IF YOU WANT TO SEE MY HOUSE, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. also Missy C., how's your tummy?
ta! ta! for now i think i blogged enough.

Missy, you crack me up!!!
Really good advise about God first and Husband second!!
PS, etiquette says you have a year to get you Thank you notes done, so don't stress too much in that area. Do a few a days and you're golden!
Thank you Nola and Missy the advise helps. I think I understand it a little better! :) And I did not know that I had a year to send out thank yous! I thought it was 2 months (which it will be two months in two days!!) and I was stressing! haha. what a relief!
Glad to be of help!! Take a deep breath and don't worry about the Thank you notes TODAY!!! Maybe tomorrow!!! (:
hey nola,
aren't you glad God made each and everyone of us unique and special. i am so glad to be a woman considering were were his last creation made and are the "cresenda" of his masterful hands. ( I hope that is the word i wanted to use, if not i am sure i'll "crack you up again) anyway, i thought the "housework" advise was pretty good too!!! LOL
luvs,

One thing I've learned about marriage is to make sure you feed your husband!
As far as the 80/20 rule...
I put away most of my daughters toys (she's 22 months and has A HUGE amount of toys!!). At the end of the night I rotate her toys... this way when she wakes in the morning she has a new set of toys to play with... and she is not overwhelmed with all the toys she has.
On the subject of my daughter having lots of toys.... When we had Sarah she was 'not planned'... we already had 3 children... the youngest one being 6 years old. We thanked God for her being such a blessing in our lives, even though financially we were/are struggling. We asked Him to provide for us what we would need for her. In return God has made sure all of Sarah's needs have been provided for...
I never asked anyone for help (with the exception of God). My friends and strangers too, have dropped off hand-me downs like you couldn't imagine. We would come home from church and find bags and bags of clothing, toys and baby stuff! We have not had to purchase anything for her with the exception of diapers.
Through this our family has witnessed God's work in amazing ways. God is AWSOME!!!
Great story about God's provision Kathleen, thanks for sharing!!
I'm with Sarah. I don't really get it either. The thing I had trouble with was with the friends. I don't like the fact that it says to devote all my time to just two of my friends. I don't know maybe I just don't get it.
great read today, the study and the blog. Hey Nola .... you mean to tell me I can send my thank you notes attached to my Christmas gifts or with my Christmas cards and I am still good! ;-) LOL I guess I have another list to make.
't'
Unfortunately, I'm the type of person who tries to give 100% to everything I do, which explains why I'm always tired! LOL :)
So, the 80/20 rule was a new concept for me. I'm looking forward to applying it at work and in other areas of my life where I tend to "overdo" it.
