Today's challenge is not so easy for me (bet you're getting tired of me saying that). Since I am not a night time snacker, it's not really
that tough. The tough part comes in not eating three hour before bedtime. OK ,I know I'm not making sense here!! Let me explain. As a rule I am in bed by 9:30 (not always asleep, but well on my way), this means I need to eat by (and no later then) 6:00 or 6:30. Well since my sweet hubby get home at 6:30 or 6:45 we don't eat until 7:00 (on a good night) or 7:30.
Now as I see it, I have two choices;
- wait and eat dinner with Ron (a much more fun choice!)
- eat before he get home (a not so fun choice)
Since Proverb 31 is teaching us to be good wives (married or unmarried) I think selfishly sitting down to dinner at 5:30 by myself and telling Ron too bad, so sad, "I'm working on not having a 'food hangover'" may not be too Proverbs 31ish of me.
So that bring me back to "today's challenge is not easy for me". I do believe sharing a meal and quality time with my husband is far more important then my food hangovers so for now I will continue to do as I have and enjoy dinner with him.
Today's Tip ~ Enjoy Your FamilyI know schedules can be crazy (I know some of you even have hubbies that work at night) so please don't get so legalistic that you sacrifice time with your fam.

I totally agree, Nola! I would much rather have dinner with my husband. I think for me, this chapter really challenged me to eat dinner until I am satisfied and then not eat again after that. I usually do my errands and work out before dinner and then after dinner, I lounge around the house. While I'm lounging or watching TV, I get bored so I eat. I'm not necessarily hungry, just bored. So from now on, I am forsaking my evening snacks!
Evening snacks are not the ones that call my name, it's those pesty little morning and afternoon snacks that just beg to be let out of the pantry (and into my tummy)!!!! But I'm with you on the boredom thing!! I get bored, I eat!!!!! Trying to work on it!
i totally agree with you both sarah and nola, especially these days where families are hurting as bad as they are. I also beleive leagalizism (sp.?) has hurt christianity far too long. it's about a relationship with Jesus, not rules. But i do try to eat before 6:00 when possible, but we do always try to eat as a family.
also thank you missy c. for the info. it's nice to know that not all by habits are unhealty. I've grown up on lemon, cranberry, etc, water cuz where i come from my ma and pa didn't buy soda pop.
anyway have a great day everyone. i am really getting alot out of this study. I hope everyone else is too.

This is going to be a challenge. My sweet tooth kicks in around 8:30 this is a problem because we go to bed at 10:00. I usually graze between 8-10 pm. So to try to keep myself from getting bored after watching t.v. I've started crocheting a blanket. Its to be working. I'm not eating as much after dinner as before. I think for me by keeping my hands and brain busy I seem to be less hungry.
While I'm not married yet, I do enjoy eating dinner with my mother. It gives us a chance to talk about our day, and if we've made dinner, a chance to talk about what we've made or how to change it for next time. I try not to eat snacks because I'm trying to burn off some so I ask myself the same old question "Do I really need it?"
This can be a challenge for me. I eat early enough, but then there's dessert. I love to eat desserts. Most of the time Dan and I eat around 6 or 630, but then at about 8 or 9 I start to get my sweet tooth. I am working on it and it is getting better:0)
I wish I could get my teenage daughter to have dinner with me but she can't wait that late. hmmm figure that one out because she usually has a 2nd dinner around 10 or so every night. I thought that I would be one of the bad ones for this too but then I did the math. Since I don't arrive home unti almost 8 p.m and Nicole works till 10:30 or 11 I don't get to bed until at least 11:30 or 12 and I am up by 5:30 and I don't eat breakfast until I get to work so I am good for my dinner schedule and my breakfast. That is so long as I finish my dinner by 9 p.m. I like my simple snacks but I usually have them just before i leave the office for the train station so I think I have learned to be backwards over the past few year.
This won't be that difficult for me, I really enjoy waiting for Ric to get home so we can all have dinner together (around 7ish). The hard part is the dessert about an hour later. I guess it is about time to cut that part out.
Also, besides the dessert part, it is the afternoon snacks I am craving during work.....I guess I can keep having them as long as I make them more healthy than a bag of chips or popcorn.
